August 2009 saw Whitfield House as the chosen destination for the Pacific Island Forum Retreat Day, hosted by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. The Prime Ministers of the Pacific Nations gathered together for in-depth discussions.

The Annual National Gala Dinner for the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux.

Whitfield House is often the chosen venue for the hosting the meetings of many dignitaries and public figures visiting Cairns. This includes Governor General Quentin Bryce and Premier Campbell Newman. Former Ministers include Prime Minister John Howard, Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile, External Affairs Minister Alexander Downer, Leader of the Opposition Malcolm Turnbull, Minister of Labour Joe Hockey. Others include the world famous environmentalist David Suzuki.
